Beautiful Pumpkin Pie

August 10, 2016 was the day my world got brighter. My beautiful pumpkin pie, Camille Daniels was brought into this world. The day was a very extremely anxious day. Camille was supposed to be evicted on the 8th of August, but she was very stubborn. I didn’t dilate my entire pregnancy, so she had to be forced out on the 10th. That day, I did a lot of eating, because I knew that I wouldn’t be able to eat or drink anything but ice. So… I had a good breakfast, had spaghetti at the house, stopped by edible arrangements, and then topped it off with a cupcake. By 5pm the next day, we were on our way to the hospital.

Starting the Process

I was previously informed that I didn’t dilate due to having a small cervix. And as a result, I was probably going to have to receive a cesarean. However, I was planning on having her naturally if I was capable. I was at risk because my iron was extremely low in which I may have needed a blood transfusion as well. So…. when I arrived on August 9th to Charlton Methodist hospital the process got started. They decided to blow up two balloons in me to cause pressure so that Camille could come further down into the birth canal. Hoping that would cause me to start dilating. The contractions were extremely painful and felt like a pain I had never felt before.

After i received the epidural it felt like heaven on earth and things became easier. At 6 cm for 2 hours, and after 22 hours in labor, they admitted me into another room to receive a cesarean. My beautiful baby, Camille was born at 6:23pm weighing 7 lb 13.8 oz. It was the most joyous and most tiring feeling. I had my baby but I was exhausted and just glad it was over. I had received the greatest blessing through it all.

5 Questions to Help Moms Labor in Love

  • Did you receive an epidural or pain medications? I received an epidural.
  • How did you deal with your contractions? To deal with my contraction i used breathing techniques and they helped somewhat but not a great deal..
  • What would you have done differently or will do differently next time? Next time I don’t want everyone at the hospital right after I have my baby. I was very tired and just wanted to enjoy that  moment in peace.
  • Funniest memory: After the epidural I started talking crazy.. I was extremely drugged up lol.
  • Tip(s) for new moms for when they labor in love: Your delivery is your experience and don’t let anyone, not even your mom nor his mom or anyone tell you how to go about your delivery day. You will want to have limited people in the room, because its a very long and tiring process. No matter how quickly or how slow the baby comes, there’s more to delivering a beautiful child. So, really consider your privacy and really enjoy your personal time before the baby arrives.
